Boojum's head is located all the way forward, just aft of the chain locker. The head itself is a Lavac unit, known for it's simplicity and reliability. Like the rest of the boat, the head has it's intakes on the starboard side, and it's exhausts on the port side. The photo on the right shows only the port side (exhaust) plumbing.

This arrangement allows for waste to be pumped directly overboard when at sea, or into a holding tank when in port. The holding tank can be pumped overboard at sea, emptied by a dockside pump, or pumped to the dock using the head pump. The system can also be flushed with fresh water from the shower sump.
